Good morning lj buddies!

So what does any science major do when she's bored during the summer?? Of course she attempts to walk on water..err almost water.  Recently I've been thinking about and have been fascinated by non newtonian fluids.  I guess the scientific definition of a non newtonian fluid would be a fluid that's viscosity is dependent/varies by applied stress.  um..basically, if you punch it, the atoms in the fluid rearrange and the "fluid" acts like a "solid" BUT if you poke it, it will act like a liquid and your hand will basically go right through it.  Anyway, I've been doing a lot of research on it and have decided I'm going to do what a lot of crazy physics majors do and actually walk on "water."  Because I'm going to do it in a kiddie pool and not just a pie container I have to do a lot of math though.  Plus I want to add food coloring/dye to it to make it look blueish and like water.  It's actually not that hard to make.  All I need is a lot of cornstarch and a lot of water.  The cornstarch makes it grayish so I think adding blue dye to it would make it look more like water. (P.S. I've been bugging Michelle with this info all week so she's probably tired of hearing about it)

Next week I plan on going through with this (provided my schedule doesn't conflict with it) and I'm going to try and videotape it.  I think it should end up being quite cool actually.  I might some teachers up at the local college to check my math and make sure i'm doing everything right.  I'm working on a math problem too which my mom says I should get an adviser for.  Part of this is for an independent study thing I'm doing. (yeah on top of all the work I've been doing with my label)..gosh this entry is getting kind of non-interesting to the non-nerds in my life I guess..so that's it for the academics. lol

Umm well looks like it's time to go get breakfast :) (I'll write more when I get home..

Hey!
So Michelle and I are in North Carolina for ConCarolinas! It doesn't actually start until tomorrow though so today we kind of took it easy.  We got in and wandered around the hotel for a while and then got unpacked and went to this Japanese restaurant for dinner.  Normally I hate sushi, but I figured I'd give it a try so I got this shrimp sushi thing on the side to try and it was actually pretty good.  As usual, there was tons of leftovers.  That's how it always seems to be when I get Japanese food.

We had a second epic pillow fight a few minutes ago.  We took these really long throw pillows and were fighting with them to epic songs (like from Pirates and some random other epic movies).  (yes I'm aware of how many times I said epic in that last sentence.)  Oh and it was pouring earlier so yeah. got soaked coming from the shopping area to the hotel.

Michelle is now giggling insanely and I must get back to this biology test.

 So I'm writing Snow White fanfiction for my AP English Lit class..I could not make this up.  It is kind of fun though because I haven't been able to write something that wasn't purely for school in a long time.  If I like how it turns out I might post it just so you can see that I'm not lying. LOL

Oh and check out the show Numb3rs..it's pretty good.

oh yeah..and i have to figure out a way to get $10 to my friend Chris in the morning for Mrs.Jordan's gift. (AP Bio teacher..well the one I studied with but she might as well have been because she's the only reason I knew some of that stuff..actually most it)  He randomly texted me the other day and asked me if I wanted to chip in to whatever they're getting her.  I guess Michelle would know.  Anyway. G'night ;)

 today's life lesson:
swimming in 50 degree weather is a bad idea..even if the pool seems warmer than the air.  although at 6:15 in the morning, swimming laps in said weather for 25 minutes will wake you up after a second night of no sleep because of the frickin rain!

p.s. this up at 6 to swim laps thing is for swim team..which i'm 98% sure starts in a few weeks :)

anyway. just thought i'd share my early morning experience with you

Also: listening/watching The Office while doing my AP Spanish hw..great idea! *is halfway through season 3*

 All night hw session to finish trig class with my friend Christina..not our best idea but only 45 or so more quizzes to go! I loathe this class. (promise there are things I like but for some reason when I get on LJ I always have something to complain about)  But just to show you how freaking hard my trig class is, my friend and I have had at least 3 professionals tell us they had no idea how to solve some of them and 1 even walked out on us. (not literally..she just left the session thing..) but hey we both have high A's so as long as we finish the coursework we'll be fine..it's just time consuming and confusing. (promise I won't complain anymore)

hmm So, there are only 20 days of school left. Thank God! Michelle has been keeping me sane by providing me with awesome fics throughout the week!. Is it a bad sign when the advertisements on the computer so getting wavy?  LOL i'll step away in a few minutes I promise. But anyway, just wanted to let everyone why I'm not talking much (if at all tonight..tina's got me working like crazy to get this done)

Well I think that's just about all the time I have for now..more tomorrow :)

 Just found out I have to take a US History exam that counts for 20% of my grade next week..oy. luckily I think I remember most of what I've learned this year and have flash cards! So...one more exam and then some finals (never ends does it lol).  Anyway that exam is going to be on the 22nd so at least I have some time to study :)

Well hmm can't really think of anything else to update you on..so on that note I guess I'll talk to you later..OH! I finally got a car! I know I've said that about 10 times to those that know me but I actually get to drive it down from Ohio in a few weeks (I've also said that numerous times).  The short story is that my freshman year my mom got me a car up in Ohio but then after she got in a car accident she had to keep it.  Well, now she got another car so I get to have the one that was supposed to be mine :)  Which is great because I'm definitely going to need a car next year for school.

Alright, well I have about 40 more flashcards of info to cover tonight so I'm going to say goodbye for now :)

Oh my gosh I'm done with exams!!! THANK GOD!! I actually think I did pretty well or is it good..oh well doesn't matter anymore.  I just saw the cuteist little 9 year old guitar prodigy on Ellen playing & singing Crazy Train (by Ozzy Osbourne..I think that's how you spell it).  He can't speak English (because he's Japanese I think) but he can sing & play Crazy Train (really really well) 

Oh my god Ozzy Osbourne just came on Ellen to meet the little kid..it's so cute!

Anyway now I just have to finish some homework and then Heroes marathon!!

Last exam is tomorrow! && Michelle is trying to get me to go to bed and failing miserably...mainly because she started showing me some fics that she's working on so of course I had to have more than a few paragraphs :)

Biology is tomorrow! which I feel better about than I did before the Spanish (I really hope that made sense).  After 10 hours of stdy sessions with some people from my old school, I think I'll be ok.  

now I just gotta wait for it to be 11:55 so I can post this with the note to michelle..

@ Michelle: guess what? it's been 10 more minutes! more fic!

 So. just a quick update: 
My best friend (Michelle) and my mother both graced the hospital with their presences (is that grammatically correct?).  My mother for trying to jump over a piano (you don't want to know) & Michelle for not eating enough sugar (lol funny and scary at the same time).

Oh and I've spent the past two days sleeping because I hurt my back (from moving things I'm pretty sure) and had to take pain pills that knocked me out. Working on my econ paper and then I'm going to start the term project for it.  Oh and watching House (I'm actually watching an episode I haven't seen..wow)

 Yes so this week when I was informed I would not be able to take my AP Spanish exam guess what? they were wrong!  The whole time I told them to talk to this one person at the high school and they talked to someone else who had no idea what she was talking about.

Of course, after my mom emailed Reverand Covington I was told it would be no problem for me to take the exams with Hanahan!  Now had my guidance councelor told me she knew a month ago I wouldn't be able to take my exam (I know this because I got dated things) I would be ready to go and all set up at Hanahan because I would've had my mom email the right people way back then..

Now I have to decide if I want to prep for the Spanish Exam also..gotta call the Spanish teacher and see what she thinks but after my review session. oy. what do you think?

So, to sum this entry up: I don't think I want to take the AP Bio exam, this year was filled with intense laziness (not really but kinda), AP Classes are designed to make people hate themselves, and Michelle and Tessa are always right!

So apparently my school is now blocking instant messengers..

not even going to say anything but sorry..I'll try and find a way around it..(i think I can download something that will let me get on all of them) but until then..i'll just continue questioning how they could possibly figure out a way to do this!..grr

 My school made me reimage my cp which was hell on earth! So, I don't have yim or aim anymore :( I can maybe do yahoo through email though.  But that's why I haven't been on ..technically I'm only supposed to use said computer for school purposes (yeah right).

 Who: Obviously me, Alyssa.  

What: I am going insane with exams coming up and now having to pack everything because of someone's brilliant idea of getting a house yesterday that we'd be moving into on May 1st! joy joy joy..although it is pretty awesome.  On top of this my sleep pattern is completely reversed and I think I'm on the verge of being bi-polar..just kidding i know it's just the stress but really..(I can't even form coherent sentences)

When: So for the next two weeks I will be throwing everything I own into boxes! On top of studying for what may be the hardest tests of my life! (jk but they will be hard)

Where: Obnoxiously close to one Mr.John McCarthy (litterally like 6 houses down people)..and the funny thing that my mom noticed was that I'll be at 6 (name of my street) drive and he's at 6 (name of my street) court..how crazy is that! They have the same names except one is court and one is drive and they're the same numbers.  Really the only reason they're different is because there's a road that cuts off the two streets but it's not like I can't already walk to his house..oh and joe clemit who used to be the most annoying person I've ever met.  I love this house though even thuogh it isn't the famous guys house (more on this later) because the person in that house decided not to move after all (don't you just love when that happens).  And really we don't have to leave the house we're in so soon but hey that pool is calling my name! (10 feet with a diving board and slide...oh yeah!

Why: Why am I going crazy?? have you seen how insanely cluttered my room is && I hate packing & I hate exams..but I shall live because after May 15th I'm free! yeah!

How: Well two days ago my mom found out we weren't going to move into this one house which I wanted because it used to have a studio on the ground floor and we were going to rebuild it & I was going to have the ground floor all to myself :) But then like I said the people in their now decided not to move. (Oh and did I mention Band of Horses lived there!! yeah the guys from Nic & Norah's Infinite Playlist ((sorry if I spelt that wrong but you know I'm a terrible speller)) except their on tour in Australia at the moment :( )  Anyway, I think I'll like the new house better than this one but will hate the packing and the moving :( but :) yay that we found a house and just immediately said yes..well not immediately, we actually heard about it a few weeks ago from the realtor person and after a lot of talking about how rediculous it was to move down the street we decided what the hay and went anyway. Turns out we love the house!

Anyway, I got to update you on what's going on with me so I'm going to try and check out everyone else's LJs soon..my school cp blocks most of them (sorry guys)

Oh and for everyone that keeps telling me I need a break: guess what? I'm taking one! Going to six flags with Britt this weekend so I probably won't be on much due to getting all my hw done so I can skip a day of school (I know that sounds so lame when I don't even go to a normal high school)

 Dear people in the real world,
I MISS YOU!! I am so ready to be done with school...well not school but you know this year..all i ever seem to be doing is writing a paper for some class and pulling all-nighters. I don't even speak gramatically correct on here anymore because by the time I get to updating I'm pretty much dead.

Well I have a competition tomorrow that I have to get up at 5 for. Then I have classes all afternoon and Friday & Saturday I'm leading a retreat so yay.  Sunday has something but honestly I couldn't tell you what it was if my life depended on it :/ ..I guess I'll find out

OH AND if the fact that I'm not getting well any sleep wasn't enough. Guess who's spending the weekend with me??? (Erick!)..oh joy. that will be exciting. He sent me a ton of texts (yes I tried to get his number blocked. no i can't without having to pay some monthly fine that i don't want to have to deal with though). Monday morning just to let me know he would be speding the weekend with me on the retreat but actually he first gave me a bunch of demands like turn your phone off and stop talking to blah and blah..none of which I listened to because freaking dumb ass expected me to turn my phone off and talk to him at the same time.  So after telling him I already knew and that i was good and busy ..too busy to talk to him I just ignored him..this weekend should be ...interesting. 

Luckily Chris will be with me all the time except when I'm sleeping so I don't have to worry (at least I don't think I do) I'm also going to give the leaders a heads up that he can't be in my group and everything else to make you guys happy :)

P.S. I'll be on YIM Saturday night as soon as I get home because I miss y'all!!!

 well..at the moment I'm in my Spanish class but I'm also filling out a student survey that was actually making me laugh so I thought I would comentate (not sure if I spelt that right) on the survey and update you on all the exciting things going on in my life! right.

so anyway. most of you are aware that I go to a virtual high school (i.e. I do all my work via the internet..) so when I got to questions 16-18 on the learning environment (which weren't nearly as funny as the rest of them) I started laughing.."I use computers and other technology at my school to help me learn." It's one of those Disagree-Agree surveys so I mean you'd have to be an idiot not to put agree..The real funny parts came during the socail and political environment questions..
"Students in my school behave well in the hallways, in the lunchroom, and on school grounds." hmm..you know i do have a tendency to get kind of crazy in the hallways..I guess the school grounds for my school would be facebook, the lunchroom would be AIM, and the hallways would be the weird thing they have called hallways that we have during holidays..odd..the questions just kept getting funnier.

Anyway my Spanish class is over so I'm going to go back to recording my speaking assignment and then take a lunch break. (p.s. there is a Kyle XY marathon and a lot of my friends watch this show so I thought I'd check it out. part of it is a little confusing but I'm starting to figure out what's going on.  lol to the play an A minor to get over your ex..i'll have to remember that) 

oh but update: hmm other than being behind in my AP classes school is going well. I haven't been to church on Sunday for months and it's kinda been good for my stress (oddly enough); I completely lost my voice for a little over a week and the doctors took a guess that I have really bad acid reflux...so hopefully I'll keep my full voice for a while!; Erick's birthday is Saturday so I have to call him to say happy birthday..family obligation thing; I'm probably going to be spending most of April in Ohio; mom wants to move again but I don't really care because hey I'm graduating soon; I tried to give up caffeine but then I keep drinking Pepsi or coffee without even realizing it

I do believe this is the most boring LJ entry I've had for a while..

Oh tonight I have to lead the JCM and will get my head bit off by a bunch of angry teenagers who want the prom to be further north in the state..whatever

Also, I haven't been on YIM much and have been keeping my cell off so I can get some work done & it seems to be helping. sorry though
